Connecting inD Connect to Alexa
Setup & User Guide
Overview
inD Connect allows you to integrate your aF4 with Amazon Alexa, enabling remote control of your aquarium feedings. By setting up a custom Alexa command, you can trigger feed cycles with a simple voice command or integrate your aF4 with other home automations.
Setup Instructions
Step 1: Preparation
1. Download and install Amazon Alexa on your phone.
2. Connect the app to your echo speaker or use the app stand-alone.
Step 2: Add eWelink Smart Home Skill
1. Tap the menu button (3 lines) on the Alexa App.
2. Select skills and games.
3. Enter eWelink Smart Home in the search bar and tap on the eWelink skill.
4. Tap the "Enable to Use" button. This will take you back to the eWelink app.
5. Tap the blue "Link" button on the bottom right. Account linking should take less than a minute. Alexa will then look for connected devices on eWelink. You may need to add them manually on the next screen if it doesn't add automatically.
Step 3: Create a Voice Command in Alexa
1. Open the Alexa app and press the (+) plus sign. Select Routine from the menu.
2. Under the "WHEN" menu, press the (+) plus sign. Select "Voice", and enter the trigger phrase for Alexa. Example: "Feed the fish".
3. Under the "ALEXA WILL" menu, press the (+) plus sign. Select the "Smart Home" menu, then the "Plugs" submenu. Select the inD connect that you created in eWelink. Set it to "ON". Hit Next.
4. Under the "ALEXA WILL" menu, press the (+) sign next to "Add another action". Scroll down to "Wait". In the middle column, select "01" for a 1 minute wait duration. Hit next.
5. Under the "ALEXA WILL" menu, press the (+) sign next to "Add another action". Select the "Smart Home" menu, then the "Plugs" submenu. Select the inD connect that you created in eWelink. Set it to "OFF". Hit Next.
Congratulations! You've setup a voice command in Alexa - you can experiment with different integrations and triggers via the Alexa app - additionally; you can do all your scheduling from Alexa as well if you'd prefer it over eWelink.
Using inD Connect with Alexa
Once set up, simply say:
“Alexa (or echo, or whatever your smart speaker is called), [Scene Name]” (e.g., “Alexa, feed the fish”) to trigger the feeding cycle.
