inD Connect Setup GuideUpdated a month ago
The inD Connect is a WiFi accessory for the aF4 that connects your feeder to your home WiFi network. Once set up, you can trigger feeds on demand, create automated feeding schedules, and integrate with Alexa™, Siri™, or Google Home™ — all from your phone.
What you'll need
- aF4 unit
- inD Connect dongle and power splitter (included in the inD Connect package)
- The eWeLink app (free — available on iOS and Android)
- A 2.4GHz WiFi network
Important: The inD Connect is only compatible with 2.4GHz WiFi. If your router broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz on the same network name, you may need to separate them or temporarily connect your phone to the 2.4GHz band during setup. Check your router settings if you have trouble pairing.
Step 1 — Download the eWeLink app
- Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
- Search for eWeLink and install the app
- Open the app and create an account, or log in if you already have one
Step 2 — Connect the hardware
The inD Connect package includes a power splitter that allows the dongle and the aF4 to share a single power supply.
- Connect the female end of the power splitter to the aF4 power supply
- Attach the short male end of the power splitter to the inD Connect dongle
- Connect the long male end of the power splitter to the aF4
- Locate the 3.5mm cable port on the inD Connect (opposite the power port) and insert it into the 0-10v link port on the back of the aF4
The inD Connect should begin blinking, indicating it is ready to pair.
Step 3 — Pair the inD Connect with your network
- Press and hold the button on the inD Connect for 5–7 seconds until the blinking pattern changes slightly — this puts it into pairing mode
- Open the eWeLink app and tap the (+) plus sign in the top right corner
- Select Add Device — the WiFi network your phone is currently connected to should be displayed
- Enter your WiFi password and tap Next
- Under devices found, tap the (+) icon to add the inD Connect — this should take less than a minute
- Tap Next and give the device a name on the following screen
Your inD Connect is now connected. If pairing fails, power-cycle the dongle and repeat from step 1.
Step 4 — Trigger a manual feed
Once paired, you can trigger an on-demand feed from the eWeLink app at any time.
Locate the toggle to the right of the inD Connect device name and switch it to ON. Hold it in the ON position for at least 10 seconds, then switch it back to OFF.
Important: Always switch the toggle back to OFF after triggering a feed. Leaving the inD Connect in the ON position will prevent subsequent scheduled feeds from triggering correctly.
Step 5 — Create a feeding schedule
- Open the inD Connect settings by tapping the device name you created during pairing
- Open the Schedule menu (bottom right of the device screen)
- Tap Add to create a new schedule event
- Select the hour and minute for your feed — the app uses 24-hour time (0–12 = AM, 13–23 = PM)
- If you'd like it to repeat daily, open the Repeat menu and select the days
Critical: Every ON event must have a matching OFF event set 1 minute after the ON time. Without an OFF event, subsequent scheduled feeds will fail.
Example schedule for two daily feeds:
| Event | Time |
|---|---|
| ON | 14:00 (2:00 PM) |
| OFF | 14:01 (2:01 PM) |
| ON | 17:30 (5:30 PM) |
| OFF | 17:31 (5:31 PM) |
Troubleshooting
inD Connect won't pair
Confirm your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network during pairing. Power-cycle the dongle and try the pairing process again from the beginning.
Scheduled feeds are not triggering
Check that every ON event has a corresponding OFF event 1 minute later. Confirm the inD Connect is not stuck in the ON position — if it is, switch it to OFF manually in the app.
Feed doesn't trigger when I switch to ON
Make sure you hold the toggle in the ON position for at least 10 seconds. The aF4 requires a sustained signal to trigger a feed cycle.
WiFi signal dropping
Ensure the inD Connect is located within good range of your router. A weak signal near the unit is the most common cause of unreliable performance.
