Pre-Use RinseUpdated a month ago
Before using your aF4 for the first time, a rinse cycle is required. This clears any residue from the manufacturing process and ensures the tubing and internal components are clean before food is introduced into the system.
This step is mandatory — do not skip it.
What you'll need
- A sink or a container large enough to catch the output water (a very large cup or bucket works well)
- A separate water source of at least 12oz for the intake tube (a glass or bowl of water)
- The aF4 power supply
Rinse steps
- Take the aF4 and power supply to a sink
- Fill the reservoir at least halfway with warm water
- Submerge the long black intake tube in your water source — use a glass or bowl containing at least 12oz of water. The intake tube must be fully submerged to allow the pump to draw water through the system.
- Position the gray output tube so water will flow down the sink drain, or direct it into a cup or bucket to catch the output
- Connect the power supply and power on the aF4 with a firm 3-second press of the power button — the status LED will turn solid green when the unit is on
- Press Feed Now to run a flush cycle — the unit will pump water through the system and out of the gray output tube
- Repeat the Feed Now cycle 1-2 times
- Power off the unit and empty any remaining water from the reservoir
Your aF4 is now rinsed and ready for mounting and setup.
If water does not dispense
This can occur on brand new units or units that have been stored for an extended period. Tubing within the peristaltic pump housing can become pinched preventing the pump from drawing water on the first attempt.
To clear it:
- Run one Auto-Clean cycle
- Attempt Feed Now again
If water still does not dispense after a second Auto-Clean cycle, submit a support ticket before proceeding.
