Setting the Feed Quantity & Feed Now FunctionUpdated 2 months ago
This guide covers the two controls you'll use most regularly on your aF4 — setting how much food dispenses per cycle and triggering a manual feed on demand.
Feed quantity
The feed quantity setting controls how much food the aF4 dispenses during each feed cycle. The row of 5 LEDs above the feed quantity buttons shows your current selection.
| LEDs lit | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5 mL | Approximately 75–95% of a single frozen food cube |
| 2 | 10 mL | Approximately 2 frozen cubes |
| 3 | 20 mL | Approximately 4 frozen cubes |
| 4 | 30 mL | Approximately 6 frozen cubes |
| 5 | 50 mL | Approximately 10 frozen cubes |
How to adjust:Press the feed quantity buttons to cycle through the settings. The setting saves automatically.
Finding the right quantity for your tank:Start conservatively and increase over time. Begin at 5–10 mL, run a few cycles, and observe how quickly your fish consume the food. If uneaten food remains after 5–10 minutes, reduce the quantity. If fish are still actively feeding when the food runs out, increase it.
Feed Now
The Feed Now button triggers an immediate single feed cycle, dispensing your currently selected feed quantity. Use it for:
- Testing the unit after setup or after refilling the reservoir
- Supplementing your scheduled daily feed
- Confirming the unit is working correctly
How to use: Press the Feed Now button once. The aF4 will immediately begin a feed cycle, dispense the selected quantity, and run its automatic self-cleaning cycle.
Feed Now does not affect your scheduled daily feed time — your automatic 24-hour feed will still run as programmed.
