Updated Hydros Instructions (under construction...)Updated a day ago

  1. Connection

CoralVue HYDROS utilizes a GX-12 4-Channel 0-10v “Quad” Cable, available at online retailers.

The aF4 is completely compatible with the HYDROS via the 0-10v QUAD CABLE, and no purchases are necessary from us are required to get the feeder running.

However, you will require the proper port on HYDROS, the 0-10v OUT Port, PURPLE in color. This would be available on:

    HYDROS Control X4
    HYDROS WaveEngine
    HYDROS WaveEnginev2

***Please note there are 2 types of 0-10v Port, IN and OUT, sending a signal out to the feeder requires the OUT Port.

HYDROS has made it simple to identify which of the four cables is connected, as they are color-coded Red, Black, Orange, Brown

For this guide, we're going to select the BLACK output on the Quad Cable.

  2. Adding the aF4 Output into a HYDROS Control/Collective

Power for the aF4 does not need to come from a HYDROS controllable outlet, you may simply power directly from the wall. You may use a HYDROS controllable outlet, however, that would simply stay on 24/7.

Power on an EMPTY aF4 and connect the 3.5mm cable from the HYDROS 0-10v Quad Cable to the back 0-10v port on the aF4.

*For this example, we are using Black as an example; any color may be used.

1: Create a new OUTPUT

2: Family: Advanced

3: Type: Generic

4: Enable “Has Internal Schedule”
5: Enable “Advanced Settings”
6: Set “Start Time”, this would be your first feeding
7: Set “Run Time” as 00:00:15, 15 Seconds of a 0-10v Signal to the aF4 will trigger a feeding

8: Set “Run Count”, this is how many feedings you do a day
9: Set “Run Interval”, this is how often you feed.
10: Set “Output Device”, this would be where the 0-10v cable is plugged into, 0-10v Output 1 (BLK)
11: Set OFF Voltage to 0.0 and ON Voltage to 10.0
12: Upload Changes

  1.  Manually Triggering A Feed Cycle in HYDROS

To create a manual trigger within the app, we will be utilizing HYDROS Modes and Virtual Outputs.

1: Create a new MODE, perhaps titled aF4 Feeding

2: Input Voltage will be unused, should remain -1v
3: Set “Mode Timeout” to 15 seconds. 00:00:15
4: Exit Delay Will be Unused, remaining 00:00:00
5: Set Active Units (For most users this will be untouched, but advanced users may wish to keep certain outputs off)

6: No need to upload changes yet, simply head back to your main menu

7: Create a new OUTPUT, titled “VRTL Feeding”, or similar
8: Family: Constant

9: “Active In Modes” will be modified, This VRTL Feeding will ONLY BE ACTIVE (Checked) in our “aF4 Feeding” Mode. MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK ALL OTHER MODES.
10: Set “is Invisible” to ON.
11: No need to upload changes yet, simply head back to your main menu
12: Go into the settings for your aF4 Feeding OUTPUT. (The one created in the previous page)
13: Set “DEPENDS ON” to your new “VRTL Feeding”
14: Set “Dependancy Mode” to ON if ON

15: Upload Changes

What this does is create a mode that is active for 15 seconds, during which an invisible constant output titled “VRTL Feeding” comes on, in turn, our aF4 feeder gets sent a signal to feed, because the output, “aF4 Feeding” depends on this Virtual Output, On if On. That Mode is only set for 15 seconds from its timeout, and will return to Normal Mode after running.

  1. For a HYDROS WaveEngine v2 ONLY setup (NO HYDROS Control or Collective setup)

If you only own a WaveEngine V2 (and not part of a HYDROS Collective), you won’t see the full range of features and capabilities that come with being in a Collective. These instructions are written specifically for standalone WaveEngine V2 users.

If, however, you own a WaveEngine V2 along with other HYDROS Controls, those devices should be joined together in a HYDROS Collective. By the end of these instructions, your devices will form a Collective. Keep in mind: when adding additional devices later, those new devices will lose any existing configuration once they are brought into the Collective.

For more detailed information on setting up and managing Collectives, please refer to the HYDROS Online User Manual.

Please ONLY proceed if you have ONLY a WaveEngineV2

1: From the STATUS Screen of your HYDROS WaveEnginev2, tap the three lines on the Top Left
2: Tap the + Button
3: Tap “Create New Collective”
4: Agree to the pop up, this will be a Single Device Collective
5: Name your Collective, the name of ALL of your HYDROS devices…which you shouldn't have if reading this, but maybe later in time ;)
6: Upload Changes
7: Proceed with the instructions for “Adding the aF4 Output into a HYDROS Control/Collective” as you now have single device Collective.
